Clients come to us with everything from a full set of blueprints to just a wish-list and a vision of the home, cottage, or renovation they want. Regardless of what stage you’re at, you’ll find our team ready to help you start making things happen. With decades of experience working with renowned designers and architects who know Muskoka as well as we do, our first priority in design is to help you find the perfect balance of style and functionality, so your family cottage is just right for you and your family.

In Muskoka, every building project is by nature one of a kind. We tailor our services to meet your specific needs in terms of site and budget. Because we are builders, we bring invaluable practical knowledge to the design process and a better understanding of our clients’ needs and priorities to the building process.

We keep our clients at the centre of everything we do. Through our design services, we aim to limit our clients’ stress, find opportunities to save them money, and provide them with the benefit of our many years of experience.

At JD McCaffery, every completed project is a business card we’re proud to have our name on. We are a medium-sized building company by design: It means we can focus our attention on one major project at a time. In other words, our clients never have to worry about dealing with multiple contact people at a large company that has overextended itself.

Our team of builders is comprised of honest, hardworking craftspeople who bring their personal pride and the integrity of our founder, owner, and namesake, Jim McCaffery, to every site. And because building is about a lot more than construction, we’ll take care of everything the client wants us to, from acquiring permits to site preparation to construction and landscaping.

Along the way, we keep our clients informed of developments, progress, and costs. We are always available to discuss any aspect of the project, and our line-by-line itemized invoices provide transparency that is second to none.

In addition to new homes or cottages, we have extensive experience in completing meticulous renovations, building extraordinary boathouses, and tackling whatever other building projects our clients require. We’d be happy to discuss whatever project you’re thinking of today.
